Joao Margalha (b. 1966) is a visual artist and photographer based in Aveiro (Portugal)

Holds a degree in Regional and Urban Planning (1991) and a MSc in Environmental Planning (2002)

Completed coursework for the Master’s in Contemporary Artistic Creation (2012) at University of Aveiro

Taught at University of Aveiro (2003-2013) and at the Portuguese Institute of Photography (2017-2023)

Exhibited in galleries, museums and at the Portuguese Center for Photography

Portuguese winner of FNAC European Photography Prize - 2005

Honorary mention in IX Photo Biennale of Vila Franca de Xira - 2005

Recipient of the FAUP Architectural Photography Award - 2008
